Day 71

Date: September 12, 2010
Location: Our House

Tuscaloosa, AL

Cooking... kind of

Remember those hummingbirds that I claim as pets now? Well, they are a lot of work! Once a week I have to boil their food (basically a simple syrup) then let it cool before refilling their drinking station. I also have to thoroughly wash and dry the whole unit before putting it back outside. I can't say I will do this very long. Whew!

Day 70

Date: September 11, 2010
Location: Our House

Tuscaloosa, AL

Legends Meet

Another Saturday of football at the Snyder household. This is basically what I, and you, can expect during the season. Another win for Bama and a priceless picture to remember it. This is Penn State's coach, Joe Paterno, with Saban.

Day 69

Date: September 10, 2010
Location: Our House

Tuscaloosa, AL

Spoiled Much?

Before you start the name-calling and making fun, I will admit that I am very spoiled by my husband.

This is my toothbrush, all pasted up and ready to clean my teeth.

Justin wakes up before me to get ready for work. Each morning before he leaves, he prepares my toothbrush and puts it on the vanity, ready for me to use.

I think it's very sweet. It's one more little reminder that he is thinking of me (while I am getting that extra thirty minutes of beauty rest).

Day 68

Date: September 9, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Custom Door

When we updated our flooring and painted the whole house, we also installed this door on our pantry.

I am still in love with it.

The kitchen is just a little more special with the addition of the door. And I love to tell our visitors about it; come over and ask me about it ;) .

Day 67

Date: September 8, 2010
Location: Our House

Tuscaloosa, AL

Project Ahead

These are the cushions on the sofa in the formal living room, covered by a slip cover. I like that it's a two piece cover; I don't like that it has way too much fabric.

My great idea is to cut the fabric into two pieces and sew them to fit each cushion individually. I think it will look better. But I should mention that I cannot sew. I mean, I can sew on a button or repair a fallen hem. But that's it. And I want to tackle this. Wish me luck!

Day 66

Date: September 7, 2010
Location: Our House

Tuscaloosa, AL

Bird Watcher

My first thought when I posted this picture: I must be getting old; I like to watch birds!

Anywho, I do like my new pets. Hummingbirds are very interesting to watch. They are territorial, but loyal to their own, urrr, flock(?).

Since I've put up the feeder, I find myself outside more often. On second thought, though, that could have something to do with the cooler weather.

Here's to getting older!

Day 65

Date: September 6, 2010
Location: Our House

Tuscaloosa, AL

Labor Day

Labor Day: the day to do no work! It's a great excuse to be off work.

We were invited over by some new friends of ours. We grilled and watched a college football game (can't remember who, haha). And these kids were there. They made the night interesting, to say the least.

It was good to get to know Paul and Ashley a little better.

Day 64

Date: September 5, 2010
Location: Cracker Barrel
Tuscaloosa, AL

Brunch

Mom and Matt's plan was to leave early Sunday morning to make it to their church, and give us time to make it to ours. Instead, we ended up drinking coffee on the back patio until 10 am. Didn't quite make those plans happen. But it was nice.

A little later, we went to Cracker Barrel for brunch. While we waited, Garrett kept "building" with the peg game. He's a creative little thing.

P.S. the food was awful.

Day 63

Date: September 4, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Ready for Football

Roll Tide! Doesn't he look ready for the game? The next several Saturdays will look like this at our house.

Alabama vs. San Jose State

First win for Bama! 48 - 3

Day 62

Date: September 3, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Washed and Folded

Nothing makes my day more than coming home to this: my husband doing laundry!

Thank you sweetheart, I really appreciate it. What a relief.

Day 61

Date: September 2, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Rice Bowl

With our sudden interest in Thai and Indian food last year, Justin and I chose this set of dishes. It includes a small bowl; one we use as the rice bowl. The set includes the cereal bowl, rice bowl, and a soup bowl (not pictured). Very practical.

Those of you who know me well probably aren't surprised that I chose a black set for my everyday dishes. It's been over a year, and I still love them.

Day 60

Date: September 1, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Wedding Gift

We've been married one year, two months, and 26 days. And we just got this gift! What a nice surprise!

It goes with our decor so well; I've hung it in the hall so that it's the first thing a visitor would see when coming in the front door.

Day 59

Date: August 31, 2010
Location: American Christian Academy
Tuscaloosa, AL

Brookwood @ ACA

The first game of the season results in a win for BMS!

I like this picture because both coaches are demonstrating the coaches' stance: hands on the hips while in the huddle and yell, yell, yell.

Way to go guys; let's hope the rest of the season goes as well.

Day 58

Date: August 30, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Real vs. Fake

Can you taste the difference in butter and margarine? And which do you prefer?

Butter is the only option in our kitchen. I normally keep it in the fridge, but I designate one stick as the "soft stick," which I keep in the butter dish, on the counter.

I've been told that this practice is strange; that all butter belongs in the refrigerator. But it's so totally fine.

Day 57

Date: August 29, 2010
Location: DCH
Northport, AL

Chace Alexander

Ok. I'll admit that I did not take this picture of Chace. This is a picture of the MMS message Tiffanee sent me. But this is big, and it still counts!

Chace was born on August 28, 2010, weighing in at seven pounds and five ounces.

We've been waiting for him for so long and now he's here. I still haven't met him, but I plan to visit him at home when he is a little older and more adjusted to this world. :)

Day 56

Date: August 28, 2010
Location: Home Depot
Tuscaloosa, AL

Bros

At 6 a.m. my mother sent me this text: "We are on our way to T-town. We have some shopping to do. Call me when you can."

At 6:47 a.m. she sent me this text: "Would you guys like to meet us for breakfast at IHOP at 10:00?".

Then at 8 a.m.: "Are you awake?" and "I meant 9:00."

8:33: "We just went through Moundville. We will be at IHOP in about 15 minutes. Call us when you wake."

I had had a little too much fun at Steph's the night before.

I finally respond at 8:53: "I just woke up."

The point you ask? I had a surprise visit from the folks and the bros. Once I finally greeted the world, I met them at Home Depot to help Mom pick out some paint colors for her house. The boys entertained themselves while we shopped. Then we all visited at the house for a while. Unexpected visits are nice.

Day 55

Date: August 27, 2010
Location: Stephanie's Apartment
Northport, AL

Ladies Wine Party

Women always want to know if this goes with that. I took this picture to my coworkers for advice.

I was attending a party at Steph's with a few of her friends. She wanted to show off the new place and her new purchases. She also had a "guest speaker" to teach us a thing or two.

I had a great time; it'd been a while since I'd been out with just the girls. I also got to catch up with an old friend from elementary school. Small world.

Day 54

Date: August 26, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

10

The number of pills I took this day. I had one intense headache that would not go away.

You know it's bad when this becomes the picture of the day. But I am very thankful for these strong little pain relievers.

Day 53

Date: August 25, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Words with Friends

My iPhone is awesome. Words, as I call it, is my new favorite app for the moment. My dad and step mom laugh at Justin and me because we "sit in the same room on our phones to play games together." And because "they didn't do that at our age."

Well, of course they didn't. When they were our age they had two options: the car phone (you know, in the bag) or the cellular phone that didn't have the ability to store contacts or numbers. Technology has really come a long way.

Can you imagine what comes next?

Day 52

Date: August 24, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Wasp Saga, continued

We called the pros at Crimson Bear Exterminating to solve our wasp problem. After our entire house, roof included, was soaked in pesticide, Justin and Clint (owner of CBE) knocked this nest off the gable.

Some of those larva are still living. Totally gross. Justin is taking the jar to his coworker again.
