Day 27

Date: July 30, 2010
Location: My House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Mismatch

When I discovered my husbands flip-flops in the den, I assumed he unknowingly wore the mismatched pair. Wrong! He was aware they were different, and he claims he "just wore them around the house." I have my doubts. Yes, they are the same brand, and yes, they do look similar. But surely they felt different. This is another example of how men and women are just different.

Day 26

Date: July 29, 2010
Location: Target
Tuscaloosa, AL

The Bundle

Who has a land line anymore? I will tell you who. We do, and we didn't even have a phone! Let me tell you why we've gone back in time. Our cable and internet service is with Comcast. They offer a "Bundle" that includes cable with five movie channels, internet, and "digital voice" for a price that is less expensive than what we were previously paying for just cable with one movie channel and internet.

So now, you can look us up in the phone book. I doubt we answer, as we still haven't plugged the phone into the jack. Two awesome features are the caller ID on the TV and the online voice mailbox. I check the call log on the Comcast App for iPhone on occasion. We've already received our fair share of solicitation calls.

Day 25

Date: July 28, 2010
Location: My House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Another USA Original

Each Wednesday, I look forward to watching the adventures of Sean Spencer, psychic detective. Spencer and his bestie, Gus, work with their local police department to solve crimes in sunny Santa Barbara, CA. Gus typically has an alias, one that Sean spontaneously gives him.

During each episode, there is apparently a pineapple cameo. When viewers spot the prickly fruit, they can text USA to enter to win a prize. I love pineapple; those of you who know me well know that I claim it's my favorite food. However, I must admit that I have NEVER spotted the pineapple. I try, honestly.

Day 24

Date: July 27, 2010
Location: Mom's House
Nicholsville, AL

Boys Will Be Boys

While on vacation, I spent a day with Mom and the boys. Have I mentioned that the trip to her new home requires a journey down two rural county roads in Marengo County? It's out there. Nonetheless, the family time is worth the trip. I am glad to have them back in Alabama. I have seen Garrett (pictured here) more in the last year than I have in the first three years of his life combined. Maybe he will get to know his big sis after all.

Day 23

Date: July 26, 2010
Location: My kitchen
Tuscaloosa, AL

Sushi, please.

Although she didn't really like it, Chelsey will remember this day forever. Think about it, when did you first try sushi? Whether you liked it or not, I know you still remember it.

It's a memory that will make her think of me even though we won't be going out for it any time soon.

Day 22

Date: July 25, 2010
Location: Target
Tuscaloosa, AL

Girl Time

Chelsey visited, and we stayed busy. She enjoys getting away from "normal life" and I enjoy chatting and catching up with her. We shopped at Target to find a gift for Tiffanee and Chace's baby shower. While I searched the isles, Chelsey was entertained by the Buzz Lightyear display.

Day 21

Date: July 24, 2010
Location: Northport Baptist Church
Northport, AL

When Two Become One

May, June, and July are what we call Wedding Season in my house. I enjoy going to weddings and Justin likes any excuse to wear his seersucker suit.

On this day, we celebrated Bradley and Candace. Congratulations and good wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Holliday.

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Day 20

Date: July 23, 2010
Location: BB&T
Tuscaloosa, AL

Another View from the Window

The scene is always changing from my window at work. However, this truck makes a regular appearance at the motel next door. As you can see, the driver side door has been damaged and is now sealed shut with plastic/saran wrap type material. The driver has to enter the vehicle from the passenger side.

Day 19

Date: July 22, 2010
Location: BB&T
Tuscaloosa, AL

Happy Birthday Johnnie!

I told you, lots of birthdays this month. This one is for Johnnie; she turned 29, again, this year. She is my supervisor and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Elisha is becoming the subject of lots of my photos. But I thank her; she makes a pretty one :) and she is currently the only follower of my blog.

Day 18

Date: July 21, 2010
Location: BB&T
Tuscaloosa, AL

Let the Reading Begin

Thank you Elisha! She is letting me borrow Twilight, the book. I can't wait to start reading. Hopefully, it will give me something to do during vacation. I always think that books are better than the movie; however, I usually read the book then watch the movie. Twilight, don't let me down!

Day 17

Date: July 20, 2010
Location: My House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Happy Birthday, Again...

There sure are lots of birthdays this month. This little gathering was to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. His big day was actually the 17th, but as you've seen, we were in ATL at the Braves game.

Since we've bought and renovated our house, we love to have people over.

Aren't Steph and Nick cute?

Day 16

Date: July 19, 2010
Location: Food World
Tuscaloosa, AL

My Local Grocery

Today's picture is not that spectacular, but it gives me a chance to rant a bit and to explain why we shop here.

I've shopped at Wal-Mart for as long as I can remember. Over the last couple of years, I consistently despised my shopping experience in the mega store. I would always say that I hated to go there but would find myself there again the next week, fighting my way through the isles and checkout lines.

In November 2009, I made my last trip to Wal-Mart. Justin and I decided we would not go, even though the prices are better. Now we shop at this Food World. It's great; the employees are happy and helpful and I have gotten to know a few of the cashiers. I do spend about fifteen dollars more a week, but it's worth the satisfaction of saying I haven't shopped at the other store for eight months.

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Day 15

Date: July 18, 2010
Location: Alabama/Georgia Line

Sweet Home Alabama

Aka... my first photo flop. On the way back from Atlanta, I tried to capture the "Welcome to Alabama" road sign.

Well, that didn't work out very well. I guess it's the thought that counts.

Day 14

Date: July 17, 2010
Location: Turner Field
Atlanta, GA

Go Braves!

There were many highlights from the game, but the Braves lost. This is Bobby Cox, right before he was ejected from the game. My husband tells me this is an important piece of history, as Cox has been thrown out of more games than any other manager (he has been around longer than most of them, too).

Day 13

Date: July 16, 2010
Location: My House
Tuscaloosa, AL

TGIF

What to do today? Let's check the list to find out. A big NOTHING is on the docket for tonight.

I am one of those people... I need a list to look at and check off to be productive. When I complained that the house was always a mess, I told my husband I knew it could be prevented if I would do one chore a day. So technically, the list was his idea. But he knew it would give me peace of mind.

Side note: this list is for the "major chores." I regularly clean the kitchen, straighten the den, etc.

Day 12

Date: July 15, 2010
Location: My House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Dr. Hank

Thursday really is the best night for watching TV. USA Network has a few original series that are quite good. This is Royal Pains, which Justin and I refer to as "Hank Med."

Dr. Hank and his brother Evan R. Lawson, C.F.O. of Hank Med, started a concierge medical service for the affluent people living and vacationing in the Hamptons. In each episode, Dr. Hank has a "MacGuyver moment," in which he saves someone's life by the spontaneous use of a makeshift medical apparatus.

There is a gorgeous female sidekick, Divya, the Physician's Assistant. She is engaged to a man her parents chose for her. Despite Evan's pursuit, Divya still plans to go through with the arranged marriage.

Day 11

Date: July 14, 2010
Location: Hollywood 16 Theater
Tuscaloosa, AL

A Night at the Movies!

I swore I wouldn't do it. I just knew I would hate it! I knew I did not enjoy vampires, sci-fi, etc. Of all people, my dad convinced me to watch Twilight. He told me to watch just the first 20 minutes and if I didn't care to see the end of the movie, that would be it. I could turn it off and be done. As it goes, I was HOOKED and confused. I couldn't explain my attraction to the characters, or why I am on Team Edward. But I love it!

Elisha and I saw Eclipse one day after work. It was great! She said it was most like the book. I still haven't read the books, but I can't wait to start.

Day 10

Date: July 13, 2010
Location: Bus Stop by BB&T
Tuscaloosa, AL

The Camo Lady

Her name is Geneva. She is intimidating, but harmless. I believe she is a homeless woman. Nonetheless, she seems to be intelligent and educated. She makes me wonder what happened to her, and to all people like her. How did she become this way?

Once I saw her in my local grocery store. A child noticed her and loudly asked her mother several questions about Geneva. The mother desperately tried her best to quiet the child. Geneva, as well as everyone else, heard the girl and approached them. The girl was not frightened, just curious. They had a brief conversation; the girl asked Geneva if she worked in the store. Her reply: "Yes, I am in charge of everyone. If you need anything, you can ask me."

Day 9

Date: July 12, 2010
Location: BB&T
Tuscaloosa, AL

Happy Birthday Tip!

I told you we love birthdays at the office. Today is Tiffanee's 25th. Her special request was the fruit (which she thought I'd forgotten!). In September, she'll have her second child, Chace Alexander.

Two birthdays down this month, one more to go!

Day 8

Date: July 11, 2010
Location: City Buffet
Northport, AL

Lunch with the Fam

After church, Justin and I joined Glenda, John, and Stephanie for lunch at a Chinese buffet. Much to our surprise, they had a sushi bar with pretty decent options. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it could do in a pinch. Another perk is the soft serve ice cream. Look at the swirl of that cone! Steph is a pro.

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Day 7

Date: July 10, 2010
Location: Our House
Tuscaloosa, AL

Friends with Babies

This is Connor, the cute little son of Clay and Krista Trimm. We had the three of them over for dinner. He is such a good baby, and his parents are always fun to be with. Can't wait til next time!

Day 6

Date: July 9, 2010
Location: Work, BB&T
Tuscaloosa, AL

Happy Birthday June!

We like cake at the office. We typically celebrate with a cake. Who doesn't love birthday cake.

We have three birthdays this month. Sweet!

(BTW, this is Elisha, not June)

Day 5

Date: July 8, 2010
Location: My living room
Tuscaloosa, AL

The Decision

Okay, I will be the first to admit it: I am not a huge sports fan. Buuuuut, my husband definitely is! All I heard about on this particular day was LeBron's "big decision." Would he stay loyal to the Cleveland Cavaliers, or would he sign with the Miami Heat? After a three-hour Sports Center special on ESPN (that I cared very little about, might I add) LeBron appeared and made the big announcement: he would be leaving to join the Heat.

Personally, this means nothing to me. But I know that one day historians, or sports announcers at best, will be talking about this one again.

Day 4

Date: July 7, 2010
Location: JC Penney
Tuscaloosa, AL

Save-aholic!

Basically, I made money by going shopping. I purchased three shirts and a sweater for $12.95 and SAVED $108.12. Amazing.

Not too bad for work clothes, huh?

Day 3

Date: July 6, 2010
Location: Surin of Thailand
Tuscaloosa, AL

A Night of Catch Up

My former co-worker is having a baby boy! The ladies in the office hosted a shower for her at Surin. I haven't worked with them for over a year, but the chitchat and cheerfulness were just as I remembered.

Congratulations Lauren, you will be a great mom to little Ethan Charles!

Day 2

Date: July 5, 2010
Location: Mom and Matt's House
Nicholsville, AL

A Bird's View

I found this interesting. These are baby birds waiting for the mother bird to bring some grub. The nest is made of mud, twigs, leaves, and even carpet. (Matt and Mom recently ripped out the carpet and placed it by the road for pick up.) The babies are getting pretty large and will leave the nest soon.

Day 1

Date: July 4, 2010

Location: Mom and Matt's House
Nicholsville, AL

Happy Independence Day!

I figured that our country's birthday is just as good a day as any to start my project.

My husband and I spent the holiday with my mother, step-dad, and my three younger brothers.

My husband, Justin, taught the boys how to play "King of France." The reigning king holds on to the silver pole and floats in the water. Those wishing to become the new king try to pull him away from the pole. The one who successfully pulls the king from the pole quickly grabs the pole and is the new King of France. And the game starts over again.

The boys had a great time, and so did my husband. :)

365 Project

The Idea

It's something I first heard of months ago, and something I've wanted to start ever since. The 365 Project seems pretty simple: take one picture every day for one year.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized it wouldn't be so simple. It would take time, dedication, and constant camera-carrying. But it still sounds like fun! So, I've decided to take my daily picture, hopefully improve my photography skills, and write a bit about every day of my everyday, average life for the next year.

Start Date: July 4, 2010
End Date: July 3, 2011
